PDF Explaining Plan Specifications
Our plans come in two basic options: Traditional Framing or
SIPs Framing. Further, each of those two options come with a
Framed Floor or Slab option.
SIP Plans
SIP, or Structural Insulated Panels, floor plans are geared
primarily to support the building permit process of our kits.
All of our kits are SIP construction with some traditional framing
for the floor [optional] and interior walls, etc. However, in
the event you want to source your own SIP panels for your cabin,
then our SIP plans should suit your needs well. Please note
that you are likely to need an Engineer's stamp for any SIP
construction in order to obtain your local building permit.

Traditional Framing Plans
Our Traditional Framing plans meet ICC standards for conventional
framing. The cabin floor plans are the same as those for the
SIP Plans, but all exterior walls are specified as 2x6 framing,
16" OC with 7/16" sheathing. The other key
difference is the the roof is specified to be a manufactured truss
with a 12" cantilever [meaning that the truss is 12"
longer and hangs over each side by that amount]. The completed
outside 'look' of the Traditional Framing cabin is slightly
different from that of the SIP Plan. The Traditional Framing
plan, like the SIP plan, is optimized for ease of construction and
material usage.

Material ListsAs an option for each of our building plans,
we offer a Materials List. This list includes not only the
shell material utilized in our kit, which consists of the shell and
interior walls, but also calculations for different floors, floor
coverings, roofing materials, different siding materials, etc.
We believe we are in the business to help, so we have included as
many different calculations as we could think of for each
plan. However, if we missed something, just give us a call and
we will figure that out too.
Please note, in our plans and in our kits, we ask for you to tell
us whether or not you want to include a porch deck. However,
in our Materials List, we show that as an option so you'll have that
information ready in case you need it.
